Programme outcome tool
Build the curriculum map, compute attainment for every programme outcome and print the programme outcome document. Everything stays in this browser. Export the file to keep your work or to share it with a colleague.
The programme
Every programme outcome below should trace back to a phrase in this paragraph. Anything that cannot be traced is either an orphan outcome or a sign that the profile has quietly changed.
Programme outcomes
Eight to twelve outcomes is the workable range. Numbers are fixed for life. Retire an outcome rather than reusing its number.
Courses and their outcomes
Three to six course outcomes for a typical course. Each one must be assessed inside its own course, otherwise it belongs to another course.
Curriculum map
Click a cell to cycle the weight. 3 strong, 2 moderate, 1 introductory, blank for no evidenced claim. Then set the depth and the evidence in the row below the matrix. No evidence, no cell.
Cell detail
Select a cell in the matrix to record its depth label and the assessment evidence.
What the map shows
Decisions taken in advance
Agree the performance threshold, this scale and the target in the examination committee before the assessment is sat, and minute the date.
Course outcome attainment
One row for every mapped contribution. Enter how many students were assessed and how many reached the performance threshold on that task.
Programme outcome attainment
Interpretation and decisions
The tool computes and assembles. Interpretation and decisions require judgement and a committee, so they are written here and printed into sections six and seven.
